Our Story and Mission
Much like how a single spark can ignite a roaring fire, one small mitzvah when practiced consistently can set off a chain reaction of positivity and inspiration. Each act of kindness spreads warmth and light, creating a powerful movement of goodwill.
This belief inspired Alan Zachter, a resident of the Staten Island Jewish Community, after learning about the “Daily Giving” organization. “Why can’t we do this in our Staten Island community, supporting our local Jewish organizations?” he thought. Alan envisioned making it easy for people to fulfill the mitzvah of giving tzedakah daily, bringing the entire Jewish Staten Island community together.
And so, Staten Island Dollar A Day (SIDAD.org) was born. SIDAD combines the donations of many daily givers, distributing them to over 10 beneficiary organizations. Our mission is to empower individuals in the Staten Island Jewish Community to make a difference through small, everyday acts of generosity. By giving just $1 a day, our donors support a variety of local Jewish charitable organizations, making a positive and meaningful impact, one dollar at a time.
It is a summary of the aims and core values. A mission tells what you as an organization do for customers.
Your mission defines what your organization does and what you stand for, while your vision speaks.
